
I was really fascinated to see these tiny chuchus in the market (in Brazil) ..just the size of a lemon. Bought them and made the curry. They were nice and tender to cook as well.
Ingredients:
Baby Chuchus .... 6-7
Onion ............... 1 (sliced)
Ginger paste...... 1 tsp
Garlic paste ....... 1 tsp
Green chillies .... 1 -2 (chopped)
Tomato ............ 1 medium
Chettinad Masala ... 1 tbsp ( See the masala recipe - HERE )
Turmeric powder .... 1/4 tsp
Salt .... to taste
Oil
For Tempering:
Asafoetida .... a pinch
Mustard seeds ... 1 tsp
Curry leaves ...... a few
Method:
1. Peel and cut the chuchu into long pieces. Remove the seed.
2. Heat oil in a pan and add the tempering ingredients. When they crackle, add the onion and saute for a few minutes.
3. Now add the ginger, garlic, green chillies and tomato. Stir and simmer until the tomato is soft. Tip in the chuchu pieces and add the salt and turmeric powder. Add enough water to cook and simmer. ( you may add coriander/cumin powder, but I skip because chettinad masala has everything in it)
4. When it is almost done, add the chettinad masala and simmer for a minute. You can make it dry or with little gravy.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

chuchu!!! the name reminded me of film seeta aur geeta with hema malini and she calls chachi brother chuchu hahhaa but what is this chuchu here?
