NASI GORENG


This spicy Indonesian rice dish is a main meal on its own.
Ingredients:
Rice .......... 1 - 1 & 1/2 cups
Prawns ....... 100 gms. (cleaned and deveined)
Chicken ...... 100 gms (shredded)
Eggs ............ 1
Carrot ......... half (julienned)
Garlic ......... 1 tsp (crushed)
Sambal oelek .... 1 tbsp (see recipe - HERE)
Dark soy sauce .... 1 tbsp
onions .... handful (chopped finely)
Salt ............. to taste
Oil ............ 2-3 tbsps
Method:
1. Boil the rice adding salt. Strain and set aside to cool.

2.Beat egg with a little salt and cook on a non-sticky pan on low heat. Roll it and cut into thin strips.

3. Heat oil in a wok and saute the garlic. Add the chicken and prawns. Stir fry until the colour changes.

4. Now add half of the julienned carrot, spring onion, sauces and stir in the rice. Mix well.

5. Garnish with omelette strips and the remaining carrot juliennes and spring onion.

Nasi Goreng! You just reminded me of pushpa masi's nasi goreng.. :) She used to make yummy fried rice.
